Infographics and PR
Web Analytics have shown longer user engagement times when infographics are included in the news story, compared to a traditional news story without infographics. In addition, increased social sharing is seen when stories incorporate infographics.
Statistically speaking, studies have shown that sight is the most used human sense. A whopping 75% of all environmental stimuli are received through visual reception. As Technology evolves and Data growth continues to be more complex, the need to develop effective messaging will grow. Enhanced User Interface Design will push the boundaries of how much information the audience can consume. Interactive Visualizations will become a necessity to keep the conversation going.
Our Experiment:
Being car enthusiasts, we designed an automotive-themed infographic. This infographic showed ten years of car lap times recorded on the hit BBC show, Top Gear. We wanted to be able to measure how effective an infographic can be at telling a story. We also wanted to measure how effective the same infographic could be, if it were turned interactive. Here are the total view results (first week):
Our Website: 22,834 pageviews
Media Outlets Total 110,342 pageviews
TOTAL: 133,176 pageviews in one week
After 3 months, traffic remains strong and user engagement continues. Updates to data represented within the infographic will continue to be incorporated, which will further engage indefinitely. One of the greatest conclusions discovered, is how well the infographic had users returning back to the site and treating the graphic as a valid resource.
